Last week, we enjoyed how Martha reconnected with an old flame; this week’s excerpt from Interior Designs reveals a bit about Maeve’s adventures.
Waking up on Saturday morning next to Brody was a startling thing for Maeve. For one thing, she’d always told herself that getting involved with co-workers was a bad idea. Another bad idea was jumping into bed with someone so early in a relationship. If she could even call this a relationship, since they’d barely had half a dozen conversations, and no real dates. The drinks, followed by the visit to his condo, had certainly signaled upcoming changes. But what did any of it mean?
Last night, she’d slowly followed him into the amazing space, her gaze settling on everything wonderful and beautiful that surrounded them, from the twenty-foot ceilings to the intriguing artwork that graced the walls, and the cozy, overstuffed furniture that made her want to curl up and stay awhile.
“Wow!” She knew that her exclamation was a real understatement, but nothing else came to mind.
“I’m glad you approve,” he chuckled. “I’ll bet you’re now rethinking your image of me.”
One thing about the experience: she had felt totally at ease almost immediately. From the first glance, she’d then moved on to peruse the walls lined with books and felt drawn to them. Studying the titles, she knew that now they had a lot more they could talk about.
Upstairs, they entered the loft that was his bedroom. A bed completely consumed the space, all clothed in bright blue and red bedding. He certainly loved color!
Of course, following him up there for a “tour” had been just an excuse. But, for some reason, she hadn’t minded. In fact, when he’d leaned in to kiss her, she settled right into the experience.
Now, in the harsh light of early morning, she wondered if she’d made a grave error in judgment.

I really like Maeve. Now I’m curious to see how she’ll handle the morning-after scene. She’s a great character.
Thanks, Sandy…I enjoy writing about her, too. Glad you could stop by.
Love the story and how you had her waking up then showing us how she got there
Oh thanks, Lindsay…I do like to create those kinds of scenes.
I love the descriptions of his place, and the fact that he has a loft bedroom.
Thanks, Carrie-Anne…I once lived in a condo with a loft bedroom…loved it!
